Mayor Officially Opens Queniborough Swimming Pool
On 17th January 2025, the Mayor of Charnwood, Councillor Dr Julie Bradshaw MBE, officially opened the pool at Queniborough, Leicestershire.
The swimming pool had been bought and refurbished by local couple, Yvonne and Trevor Farmer. Yvonne had learnt to swim in this pool when she was a child so this project was close to her heart.
The BBC came along as did other reporters to see this beautiful little pool which will now be used again for swimming lessons for juniors. Leicestershire swim school under Jo Whiteman (SwimwithJo) along with Tammy Harrison and Tracey Murch were delighted with the re opening.
The Mayor, herself a swimming ‘enthusiast’ with many long distance and English Channel swimming world records was ‘over the moon’ to unveil the beautiful plaque made by the owners in recognition of her own swims for charity.
