Helen McCarthy speaks with the Mayor of Charnwood about her Thousand Mile Challenge
BBC presenter, Helen McCarthy met the Mayor of Charnwood, Councillor Dr Julie Bradshaw MBE at Loughborough Leisure Centre on 24th October 2024.
Helen is part of the BBC Leicester Team who is taking part in the Thousand Mile Challenge to raise money for Children in Need and she has chosen the Mayor to be her supporter and swim coach.
Julie ‘aka’ Madfish, is no stranger to swimming and coaching, having her own illustrious swim career spanning nearly half a decade. She first swam the English Channel aged only 15, then some twenty three years later swam it again solo but using the Butterfly stroke.
Helen spoke to the Mayor of Charnwood about this along with helpful tips and advice for her upcoming challenge.
