Burns Night for Living Without Abuse 25th January 2025

On 25th January 2025, Living Without Abuse (LWA) held a Burns Night event at Woodhouse Eaves Village Hall, Leicestershire.

The Mayor of Charnwood, Councillor Dr Julie Bradshaw MBE along with Mayoress Julie Ellerbeck attended this wonderful evening. The LWA is one of two charities that the Mayor has chosen to raise funds for during her term of office 2024/25.

Bill the piper, piped in the guests playing various ‘tunes’ to start the evening off as well as when the haggis was brought in for the ‘cut’. Each guest also had a ‘wee dram’

The Mayor of Charnwood read in her ‘Scottish’ dialect alternating with English version the poem by Robert Burns, “To A Mouse”. Check out below as the audience were entertained.

A huge thanks to Emily and Paul Corrigan from the LWA who organised the evening and ran a superb pop up bar, and games, raising lots for the charity.

The next big fund-raising event for the LWA will be the Mayor of Charnwood’s Charity Dinner on Friday 21st March 2025 at the Quorn Grange Hotel, Near Loughborough, Leicestershire and tickets are already selling fast.
